VG-StarryNight

“Vincent” is written and performed by country-folk singer Don McClean in memory of famous painter Vincent. As we know the first sentence of the lyrics is “starry starry night”, “Starry night” is one work of Vincent, which has some of strong representability. Now the paint is hung in Museum of Modern Art. Every day when it is open and closed, “Vincent” by Don McClean will be played in the museum.

Lyrics:

Starry starry night
Paint your palette blue and grey
Look out on a summer’s day
With eyes that know the darkness in my soul
Shadows on the hills
Sketch the trees and daffodils
Catch the breeze and the winter chills
In colors on the snowy linen land

Now I understand what you try to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen
They did not know how
Perhaps they’ll listen you now

Starry starry night
Flaming flowers that brightly blaze
Swirling clouds in Violet haze
Reflect in Vincent’s eyes of china blue
Colors changing hue
Morning fields of amber grain
Weathered faces lined in pain
Are Soothed beneath the artist’s loving hand

Now I understand what you try to say to me
And how you suffered for your sanity
And how you tried to set them free
They would not listen
They did not know how
Perhaps they’ll listen you now

For they could not love you
But still your love was true
And when no hope was left inside
On that starry starry night
You took your life as lovers often do
But I could have told you Vincent
This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you

Starry starry night
Portraits hung in empty halls
Frameless heads on nameless walls
With eyes that watch the world and can’t forget
Like the stranger that you’ve met
The ragged man in ragged cloth
The silver thorn in a bloody rose
Lying crushed and broken on the virgin snow

Now I think I know what you try to say to me
That how you suffered for your sanity
And how you try to set them free
They would not listen they’re not listening still
Perhaps they never will

White Horse by Taylor Swift: the Best Country Song

Posted in Country Music, Music on March 5th, 2010 by melody – 2 Comments

“White Horse” is the song for which Taylor Swift has won the Best Country Song at Grammy Awards 2010. “Hold on, and be elegant to leave when you have to”, that is what I learn from the song.

Say you’re sorry
That face of an angel
Comes out just when you need it to
As I paced back
and forth all this time
Cause I honestly believed in you
Holding on
The days drag on
Stupid girl,
I should have known, I should have known

I’m not a princess, this isn’t a fairy tale
I’m not the one you’ll sweep off her feet,
Lead her up the stairwell
This isn’t Hollywood, this is a small town,
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down
Now it’s too late for you
And your white horse, to come around

Baby I was naive,
Got lost in your eyes
And never really had a chance
My mistake,
I didn’t wanna be in love
You had to fight to have the upper hand
I had so many dreams
About you and me
Happy endings
Now I know

I’m not a princess, this ain’t a fairy tale
I’m not the one you’ll sweep off her feet,
Lead her up the stairwell
This ain’t Hollywood, this is a small town,
I was a dreamer before you went and let me down
Now it’s too late for you
And your white horse, to come around

And there you are on your knees,
Begging for forgiveness, begging for me
Just like I always wanted but I’m sooo sorry

Cause I’m not your princess, this ain’t a fairytale
I’m gonna find someone someday
who might actually treat me well
This is a big world, that was a small town
There in my rearview mirror disappearing now
And its too late for you and your white horse
Now its too late for you and your white horse,
to catch me now

Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa
Try and catch me now
Oh, it’s too late
To catch me now
